I am a personal injury lawyer living in New Orleans with my lovely wife, two little unicorn-loving girls, and a big, old, sleepy dog.  

I left a thriving law practice in Louisiana because I found out something about personal injury law that shocked me and I had to do something about it.

Why would I do this when I am a lawyer you ask?  Well...I'm not your average personal injury lawyer.  I didn't do it all for the money...

My journey starts over 15 years ago, the year when my 33 year old older brother was killed as a result of someone else's negligence.  

I became a personal injury lawyer because of that injustice...

Righting injustice, you could say, is my life's calling.

I felt helpless to do anything when he died and wanted to help others...

2) get their medical bills paid and

And, during my time as a practicing personal lawyer I recovered $1,168,900.47 for accident victims from insurance companies, big and small, from Louisiana to Georgia to Missouri.  

But something didn't sit right...

It was a feeling I had and could not shake.
How could it be that I was making all of this money for people, helping people with their physical ailments, getting victims the best medical care they could possibly get...

and there still be an icky feeling inside? 

A sinking feeling of loss and grief...

of helplessness?

And then it hit me one day like a ton of bricks:

Except it wasn't by the insurance companies that I fought day and night against, or the defense lawyers that represented them;

But it was by personal injury lawyers like me!...

And this grave injustice, that nagged at me late each night after the kids went to bed...

It kept me awake. I kept telling myself that I could show people how to almost double their settlement but that I would come up against a lot of angry personal injury lawyers across the country. 

Those lawyers would try to discredit me, threaten me, and sue me.  

It would take a lot of work to get victims to even believe that they could do it.  

But what if? What if I could? What would that be worth? 

Fortunately, I had been reading two books to my 6 year old daughter about Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mahatma Ghandi. These were the made for children kind that talked about great leaders of change in the history of the world.  


Both King and Ghandi had fought against great odds, endured great struggle and suffered great loss, but still triumphed because their fight was about justice. That would be their contribution to the world. 

I am no Martin Luther King, Jr. or Mahatma Ghandi, but I have always believed I had a great contribution to make to this world.  I believe every body does.  I thought, if this could be my contribution then I must fulfill it or I would not be able to rest in peace. 

While I can't make big speeches to unite a country or sit and starve in order to make a government listen to my just demands, I can provide tools to right the injustice I have seen in my practice of law.

At the very least, even if it didn't work, I told myself, it would be wrong of me not to try.
